WASHINGTON, DC—A new survey released today by AARP Foundation, “Loneliness and Social Connections: A National Survey of Adults 45 and Older,” finds that one in three U.S. adults age 45 and older are lonely. While the percentage is unchanged from a previous loneliness study conducted by AARP Research in 2010, approximately five million more midlife and older adults are lonely due to growth in this age group among the population.
WASHINGTON, DC—AARP Foundation today announced it has created a relief fund to help the victims – especially those ages 50 and older – as relentless rains and unprecedented flooding caused significant damage throughout North and South Carolina and other regions of the mid-Atlantic. WASHINGTON, DC—Today, AARP and AARP Foundation have asked the U.S. District Court to accept an amicus brief supporting the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). The brief explains many ways in which the ACA has greatly benefited older adults and emphasizes the importance of protections for people with preexisting conditions and the limits on charging higher rates based on age (age tax). AARP and AARP Foundation have requested that the court accept the brief in response to the state of Texas’ request for a preliminary injunction to stop implementation of the ACA.
