AARP applauds the federal government’s decision to extend the tax filing deadline to May 17, 2021.
AARP announced today its endorsement of the bipartisan “Protecting Older Workers Against Discrimination Act” (POWADA) that would strengthen federal protections of older workers. AARP praised the bipartisan leadership of Representatives Bobby Scott (VA-03), chairman of the Committee on Education and Labor, and Rodney Davis (IL-13) who introduced the bill on Thursday. This bipartisan legislation is a companion to a Senate bill introduced by Senators Bob Casey (D-PA), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Susan Collins (R-ME), and Patrick Leahy (D-VT).
AARP released the following statement from Nancy LeaMond, AARP Executive Vice President and Chief Advocacy & Engagement Officer, in response to March 10 guidance from CMS that expands safe visitation in nursing homes:
SAN FRANCISCO—In the class and collective action lawsuit Rabin v. PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, pending in the Northern District of California, the court has granted final approval of the settlement between Plaintiffs and the Defendant, and yesterday the settlement became final and effective.
The latest release of AARP’s Nursing Home COVID-19 Dashboard shows that both cases and deaths in nursing homes fell significantly in the four weeks ending February 14.
