“Campaigns are about choices. AARP members say they care about where candidates stand on issues that are important to them: character, experience and the ability to do the job. 

“AARP believes there is no place for age discrimination in politics. Elections should be about a candidate’s qualifications and stance on issues, not their age.

“Candidates who want to win elections need to pay attention to older voters, because the majority of people who cast ballots are age 50 and over. AARP urges candidates to tell voters where they stand on issues that matter to Americans ages 50+, including protecting Social Security and Medicare, lowering prescription drug prices, and ensuring retirement security.”
