AARP Responds to the Most Favored Nation Executive Order

WASHINGTON – Today, AARP Executive Vice President and Chief Advocacy and Engagement Officer Nancy LeaMond issued the following statement in response to President Trump's Most Favored Nation Executive Order:

“For too long, big drug companies have been ripping off America’s seniors—charging the highest prices in the world for lifesaving prescriptions, padding their profits at the expense of American lives, and forcing older adults to skip medications they can’t afford. We thank President Trump for issuing this executive order to help rein in prescription drug prices. We look forward to reviewing the details and understanding how these changes will affect seniors’ pocketbooks.

"AARP has fought hard to give Medicare the power to negotiate lower drug prices—because no senior should have to choose between buying food and filling a prescription. We strongly support efforts to bring down drug costs, including safe importation from other countries, and we urge Congress to take additional action to protect and strengthen Medicare’s ability to get the best deal for seniors, especially those most burdened by high prices.”
