The Communications Workers of America (CWA), two individual CWA members, and Target have reached a consensual resolution in a dispute under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), which covers workers age 40 and older, and similar state laws. The complainants were represented by attorneys from AARP Foundation Litigation, Outten & Golden LLP, and Peter Romer-Friedman Law PLLC.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is providing free in-person and virtual tax assistance and preparation now through April 18. The nation’s largest free, volunteer-based tax assistance and preparation program helped secure more than $1 billion in refunds for more than 1.2 million taxpayers last year.
The Superior Court of the State of California issued a final order January 3, holding that a facility’s refusal to accept a resident back from the hospital “constitutes an involuntary transfer under state and federal law,” and triggers an obligation to follow requirements for discharging a resident.

AARP Foundation today announced a relief fund to support victims of Hurricanes Ian and Fiona. AARP Foundation and AARP will match contributions, dollar for dollar, up to $1,000,000. One hundred percent of all funds will be directed to organizations providing relief and assistance to those in need.
