Today, AARP announced the 115 banks, credit unions and financial advisory firms that earned a seal from AARP recognizing the steps they’ve taken to stop financial exploitation. A list of the financial organizations that earned the 2022 seal can be found at aarp.org/banksafe.
A new AARP Fraud Watch Network report is alerting consumers of scams they could encounter over the holidays.
Veterans, active-duty service members and their families are nearly 40% more likely to lose money to scams and fraud than the civilian population, according to a new AARP report. Additionally, 4 out of 5 military/veteran adults were targeted by scams directly related to their military service or the benefits they receive.
A new AARP Fraud Frontiers report identified three risk factors that are present in most successful fraud and scam attempts – emotion, environment, and exposure. The findings of the report come as fraud reports have increased during the pandemic.
