WASHINGTON, DC—A survey released today by AARP Foundation finds that only one gift really matters this year for Valentine’s Day: making time for others. Sixty-three percent of survey respondents said that spending time with a romantic partner or with friends or family is the most meaningful way to celebrate the holiday. WASHINGTON, DC—AARP Foundation announced today the grant recipients of its Hurricane Harvey fundraising efforts. With matching funds from AARP and AARP Foundation, the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund raised $3.25 million to help hurricane victims – especially those age 50 and older – in Houston and Southeast Texas.
WASHINGTON, DC—AARP Foundation announced today the release of a comprehensive national report by the Urban Institute examining current employment for low-income older workers and the projected availability of different occupations. The report, funded by AARP Foundation, also examines low- and middle-wage occupations projected to grow most rapidly between 2014 and 2024 and analyze the education, experience, and on-the-job training requirements for those occupations. The purpose of the report is to better inform programming for workforce agencies and potential employers.
